This was the lowest-scoring All-Ireland final since 1990’s Cork-Meath clash but it was an absorbing affair. Tyrone were trying to atone for 1995 disappointment but Armagh were slight favourites to retain their title. There were several sub-plots: Mickey Harte and his late daughter Michaela’s prediction in 1997; Peter Canavan’s injury; Brian Dooher’s redemption. In the end, it was Tyrone’s greatest day.
