The scene: One of the most talented footballers to ever play the game composed himself on the sideline 45 metres out from goal. Kerry badly needed the score. As Fitzgerald began his run-up, Tommy Carr was in his ear, he was too far out and he was on the wrong side for a right-footer. He couldn’t possibly do it. Cue one of the greatest points ever scored as Fitzgerald swerved the ball from left to right to save Kerry.
