Tyrone became the first side since Derry 20 years before to retain the Anglo-Celt cup. Peter Canavan hammered home the only goal of the game midway through a low-scoring encounter. Meath then came out on top in a controversial semi-final. After bottling up the Tyrone attack, Martin O’Connell was accused of stamping on one of their players.
