In the GAA’s centenary year of 1984, Leitrim’s Packie McGarty was recognised on a selection of players never to win an All-Ireland. The star forward made his debut for his county at the age of 16 in 1949 and would play for 22 seasons until 1971. Unfortunately for McGarty, silverware for Leitrim would elude him as his county agonisingly lost four Connacht finals from 1957-60.
