Eager to avenge their defeat to Mick O’Dwyer’s young team in the previous year’s final, Dublin handed out a hammering to old rivals Kerry. Brian Mullins was at the heart of the fine display, scoring his side’s third goal in the 3-8 to 0-10 win and claiming his first All Star that year. Mullins went on to appear in nine All-Ireland finals in total while claiming nine Leinster medals before retiring in 1985.
