It seemed as if Sligo had blown their chance of beating a young Mayo side in the Connacht final. But the replay saw Sligo trailing 0-9 to 0-7 at half-time before the talismanic Mickey Kearins cut loose. He scored one goal from a penalty and set up another for Des Kerins as his side emerged victorious 2-10 to 0-15 to secure just their second Connacht title.
