Donnellan’s pain and ecstacy

John Donnellan lifted the cup for Galway in 1964 against Kerry in the first part of their three-in-a-row but later found out that his father Mick had died in the stands during the game. Michael Donnellan, a senior All-Ireland winner himself in 1934 and a Dáil deputy, collapsed in the Hogan Stand just before the start of the second half.
