Kerry’s Jim Brosnan came home from New York to kick two excellent points for his side. Dublin had started favourites but were denied goals on two occasions when Jerome O’Shea produced two spectacular saves. Ollie Freaney dragged the Dubs back into it late on when he fired in the only goal of the game. A late surge failed to deny Kerry and John Dowling claimed the cup despite being too tired to climb the Croke Park steps.
