Antrim put forward a motion to abolish the handpass and passing with closed fist is retained, but open-palm passing banished for 25 years. Carlow’s Jim Rea forgot the rule and had a goal disallowed in a 1-7 to 1-6 loss to Louth in a Leinster quarter-final. Kildare’s P Lyons was luckier as the referee forgot the rule and allowed his goal stand against Dublin.
