Jimmy Murray became first man to captain a side to back-to-back All-Irelands as Roscommon overcame the side that won nine of the previous 16 All-Irelands. In front of a crowd of 79,245 Frank Kinlough scored a goal for the second successive All-Ireland final while future President of the GAA Donal Keenan was deadly accurate from frees as Roscommon finished strongly.
