Cavan and Galway met in the All-Ireland semi-final in Tuam but there was not enough room for the 28,000 who turned up. Five times the pitch had to be cleared during the second half as spectators spilled inside the sidelines. After plenty of discussion among central council members, the game went on and eventually concluded with a Galway win two hours and four minutes after the throw-in.
