Following their National League final win over Kildare, Kerry set sail for a tour of the United States. The first game in New York, saw the Kingdom beat the home side 0-9 to 0-6 in front of a crowd of over 60,000 at Yankee Stadium, a record attendance for Gaelic football at the time. They also travelled to Chicago, finish their tour unbeaten and are feted as world champions.
