After Bill Gorman scored a dramatic late equalising goal in the first game, Kerry kept a close eye on Larry Stanley in the replay. He had scored three points in the draw, including one pointed free from near the corner flag. Tom O’Mahoney proved the hero for Kerry with their goal and Kildare hit the woodwork three times. Over 70,000 turned up to watch the two games giving the GAA a much-needed cash injection.
