Tipperary claimed that five of Kilkenny’s Slate Quarries football team that faced them in the 1900 All-Ireland semi-final were not eligible as they lived in Tipperary. Clonmel Shamrocks, the Tipp representatives then went on to pick the five ‘moving quarrymen’ in the All-Ireland final which was played in 1902. Tipp beat Galway and then London, who had been declared a fifth province of Ireland by Congress that year.
