The predictions have been flying in for the two matches this weekend in the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship. Kildare face off against Laois in the Leinster quarter final & Derry vs Down in the Ulster quarter final.
In Ulster Derry face off against Down for the quarter finals. Down have been the stronger of these rivals in recent times but operate in a league below the Oak Leafers, along with that Derry have the home advantage and your predictions reflect that with 55% predicting a Derry win, 40% for Down & 5% predicting a draw. Our ambassador Ciarán Whelan has gone against the grain predicting a Down win.
Kildare vs Laois - 60% predict a Kildare win, 34% for Laois & 6% predicting a draw. Kildare have suffered much misfortune in the league gathering only 8 points form a possible 28 over the last two seasons with consecutive relegations but one team they did beat this spring was Laois & the majority of you see a repeat for this weekends championships match.
Ciarán Whelan thinks differently again predicting a win for Laois. Only Ross Munnelly, Billy Sheehan & Colm Begley know what its like to beat Kildare in the championship. We have no doubt they’re reminding the new players of the 12 point trashing they dished out to Kildare in 2005 & with Ciarán Whelans prediction adding fuel to the motivation fire Laois will put their hearts and souls into this clash.
Two matches that will keep you on the edge of your seat, two matches we are eagerly waiting to see. Very best of luck to all teams.
