15. Conor McManus (Monaghan)

Footballer of the Year
At the moment you’re looking at Aidan O’Shea. He’d a great league, has been outstanding through the Connacht championship and since then. He’s been the standout player for me.
Young Footballer of the Year
Jack McCaffrey is a great player and Paul Mannion is quality as well. They have great futures ahead of them. They’re only getting started and they’re playing in All-Ireland finals. That tells you how good they are and they’re going to be around for a long time to come.

14. Kieran Hughes (Monaghan)
15. Colm Cooper (Kerry)

Footballer of the Year
You’re going to have to look at either Aidan O’Shea or Michael Darragh Macauley. The two of them play different games. Michael Darragh goes forward a lot while Aidan O’Shea is probably stronger in the air and plays more of a holding role.
Young Footballer of the Year
Jack McCaffrey is a certainty.

MICKEY HARTE
I don’t think anyone will come out that weren’t in the quarter-finals. In fact as usual, two-thirds of them will come out of the All-Ireland final. So that’s what’s leading my thinking on this. I think the whole system could be done better where there were points awarded for every performance during the year, league and championship and the points are accumulated. Then you’d find people that didn’t make the quarter-final still making the team. Still, this team would take a bit of beating!

3. Marc Ó Sé (Kerry)
4. Keith Higgins (Mayo)
5. Lee Keegan (Mayo)
6. Donal Vaughan (Mayo)

9. Seán Cavanagh (Tyrone)
10. Paul Flynn (Dublin)
11. Colm Cooper (Kerry)
12. Donnchadh Walsh (Kerry)
13. Cillian O’Connor (Mayo)
14. Alan Freeman (Mayo)
15. Bernard Brogan (Dublin)

Footballer of the Year
A lot of people are talking about Aidan O’Shea but I think the final will have a big say in that and I think Michael Darragh Macauley might be the one. He might not be the most glamorous player in the world but he has been very effective for Dublin in important games this year. It generally comes from the winners as well and that will determine that. Keith Higgins has been very effective for Mayo though he’s been moved to strange ground.
Young Footballer of the Year
I think Jack McCaffrey is in pole position, especially as Cillian O’Connor was injured.
