We had a chat with Donie Shine to discuss his highlights and lowlights of the season, who his Footballer of the Year would be if the season stopped now and who could help him win a coveted All-Ireland medal

Experience More had a chat with eircom GAA ambassador Donie Shine to discuss his highlights and lowlights of the season, who his Footballer of the Year would be if the season stopped now and reveals the player he thinks could have helped him win a coveted All-Ireland medal.

EXPERIENCE MORE: So Donie, there is much to choose from, but what is your score of the season?
DONIE: Michael Meehan’s goal against Cork. With most of the Cork team on the line, it looked impossible!

EXPERIENCE MORE: What has been the save of the season?
DONIE: Robert Hennelly of Mayo in the second half against Donegal.

EXPERIENCE MORE: If you were to name the Footballer of the Year now (asked prior to semi-finals), who would it be?
DONIE: Paul Flynn of Dublin. The best half forward in the game. He brings huge work rate and intensity to the table. He also chips in with some big scores at crucial times for the Dubs.

EXPERIENCE MORE: From any era, if you could transfer one player to your county, which would make yours an All-Ireland winning team?
DONIE: Darragh O Se. Dominated midfield in his playing days. Would love to have him as part of our team.

EXPERIENCE MORE: Who has given your team the most memorable motivational speech ever – from inside or outside the camp?
DONIE: Dermot Earley Snr. As part of the Roscommon All-Ireland minor winning team of 2006, we were lucky enough to have Dermot spend some time with us in the lead up to big games. Dermot gave some unforgettable speeches, great individual advice and was a key figure in our success that year.

EXPERIENCE MORE: What's the toughest training camp/day/weekend Dublin ever did when you played?
DONIE: Roscommon training camp in the Curragh in 2010. Two days of torture!

EXPERIENCE MORE: Who is the joker on the panel?
DONIE: Conor Devaney. Always joking and having a laugh.

EXPERIENCE MORE Who is the best trainer and why?
DONIE: David Keenan. Never complains, just gets on with it.

EXPERIENCE MORE Who is the worst dressed?
DONIE: The worst dressed is Cathal Cregg. Some very dodgy outfits.

EXPERIENCE MORE: Who was the ladies' man of the panel?
DONIE: Conor Daly, a real charmer. Always has the latest hair style.

EXPERIENCE MORE: What player from another sport do you most admire?DONIE: Tiger Woods. As a golf fan I have huge admiration for what Woods has achieved in his career. After some time away from the game he has now regained his number 1 spot.

EXPERIENCE MORE: What manager from another sport do you admire?
DONIE: Alex Ferguson. Transformed Manchester United into one of the best clubs in the world.
